Rachel Foley is a writer and design researcher exploring the impact emerging technologies might have on humanity and the planet. Much of her work centers on reproductive technologies and AI, and explores the power dynamics of class and gender in the development, adoption and rejection of new technologies.
Rachel’s fiction was named a semifinalist in the Kurt Vonnegut Speculative Fiction Prize and shortlisted for the Bridport Prize and the Surrey New Writing Prize. Her essay, ‘Baby Machine,’ was published in North American review and nominated for the Pushcart Prize.
Rachel’s film and design work was exhibited at the Design Museum London, Tate Exchange, Milan Design Week, and Dubai Design Week.
She has an MA in Creative Writing from Birkbeck, University of London and an MA in Material Futures from Central Saint Martins. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
